PURPOSE:To effectively regenerate a detector deteriorated in sensitivity in liquid chromatography using an electrochemical detector, and to enable quantitative analysis having high sensitivity and stability, by regenerating the detector, when deteriorated, with the polarity of an working electrode reversed to that in the analyzing operation. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus for analyzing microcomponents contained in an organism liquid, such as urine or blood, provided with an electrochemical detector 14 is installed after a separation column for liquid chromatorgraphy using acetic acid buffer soln. as an eluting soln. At that time, the working electrode 3 made of glassy carbon, or the like of the electrolyzing cell 1 of the detector 14 is used as an anode with respect to a reference electrode 2, such as a satd. calomel electrode in the analysis. When the electrode 3 is lowered in sensititivity by precipitation or adsorption of components except the object to be analyzed contained in a sample or the eluting soln., potential of the electrode 3 is lowered and the electrode 3 is used as a cathode with respect to the electrode 2 to regenerate the electrode 3 and reuse it. A polarity changing device 15 having a timer is attached for this purpose, and the polarity of the electrode 3 is converted into a state suitable for the analysis after a prescribed time, thus perimitting the electrode 3 to be effectively regenerated in 10-60min in accordance with concn. of the sample, etc., and degree of attachement, etc. without any need of disassembling or washing it, and quantitative analysis to be executed always with high sensitivity. |
