PATTERN RECOGNIZING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To enable highly accurate recognition at all times irrespective of deformation of an input pattern by recognizing the input pattern integrating the resemblance to an additional reference pattern and resemblance to a reference pattern. CONSTITUTION:The vector of an input pattern is given to a resemblance calculation section 3 and resemblance to a reference pattern of known category registered in a common dictionary 4 and resemblance to an additional reference pattern of category registered in an additional dictionary 5 are calculated respectively. A judging section 6 compares information obtained by coefficient adding the value of resemblance corresponding to category l calculated in the resemblance calculation section 3 and information of resemblance determined for other category in similar manner, and discriminate the category to which the input pattern belongs. The additional reference pattern which is perpendicular to the reference pattern is prepared in an additional dictionary preparing section 7 basing on instruction of the judging section 6.
