PURPOSE:To decrease the number of size detecting circuits by dividing photoelectric sensors aligned and placed in an array form in the direction vertical to the carrying direction of paper, etc., into several groups and collecting size information from every one of these groups. CONSTITUTION:Photoelectric sensors 1 which have been aligned and placed at a roughly equal interval extending over almost the whole width of paper, etc. are collected in a lump by a suitable number of pieces each and divided into photoelectric sensor groups Ga-Gc, in the width direction vertical to the carrier direction. In this state, each width deciding circuit 2A-2C decides a fact that width of the paper, etc. corresponding to the photoelectric sensor groups Ga-Gc is normal, by paper, etc., existence detecting signal, and outputs a normal width signal. Also, size detecting circuits 3A-3C output a signal corresponding to a size in the carrier direction by the normal width signal. Based on this output and a prescribed set value, a size abnormality deciding circuit 4 outputs a size abnormality signal. |
