PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform the direct measurement of the floating amount of the floating head with respect to a magnetic recording medium, by forming a slider with a transparent material, and measuring the floating amount of the floating head by optical interference fringes. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic disk 9 is rotated and the floating head is set on the magnetic disk, the slider 1 is pushed up and floated, and the floating amount which is balanced with the balancing pressure of an attaching spring 5, is maintained. The slider 1 is made of sapphire. A microscope 8 measures the floating amounts of an inner rail and an outer rail 2 in accordance with colors. |
