<p>RCA 74,184 A color filter is provided for use with an image pick-up device having a plurality of photosensors. The color filter has a plurality of horizontally repetitive contiguous sets of light transmissive areas of different colors. The horizontal dimension of these color areas is less than the corresponding horizontal dimension of the photosensors. The vertical dimension of the color areas is substantially equal to the corresponding dimension of the photosensors. In addition, the sets of color areas are vertically offset with respect to the photosensors. An image pick-up device utilizing such a color filter can develop a plurality of color representative signals using only a single set of photosensors while minimizing aliasing, maximizing the horizontal resolution, and without sacrificing light sensitivity. Also, such a filter allows for interlaced scanning.</p> |
