PURPOSE:To provide a battery with a high electric discharge voltage and a high capacity by using a crystal fluoride carbon having a specified diffraction angle as a fluoride carbon which is used as a positive active material for the battery. CONSTITUTION:a lithium battery has a negative electrode made of a light metal used as an active material, a positive electrode made of a carbon fluoride used as a main active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. In such a lithium battery, a crystal carbon fluoride the diffraction angle (2theta) at the surface (001) of which measured by performing X-ray diffraction by use of Cu-Kalpha is adjusted to the range of 11-13 deg., is used as the carbon fluoride. By incorporating a positive pellet which is prepared by molding mixture principally consisting of such a carbon fluoride as above into a battery, a battery with a high electric-discharge voltage can be obtained without decreasing its capacity. |
