In the antilock device, in the event of a risk of locking, the brake pressure is reduced when a speed differential signal ( DELTA v-signal) exceeds a predetermined threshold value. This speed differential signal represents the difference between the wheel's speed of rotation and a hypothetical line representing the translational speed of the vehicle. For braking with optimum wheel slip at which maximum adhesion occurs, this threshold value is adjusted proportionally to the speed at vehicle speeds below an upper limit speed (v1). Above this limit speed (v1) on the other hand, the threshold value is kept constant in order to prevent excessive heat energy being released by excessive speed differentials between the wheel's speed of rotation and the translational speed of the vehicle, which might lead to damaging of the tread of the vehicle wheels. <IMAGE> |
