PURPOSE:To obtain the titled molded body that is excellent in bulkiness, compression strength, etc. and is suitable as a panel core material, a cushioning material, etc., by forming an array of hollow projections in the shape of a frustum on each surface of a sheet so that the hollow projections are arranged alternatively on the opposite surfaces of the sheet thereby forming the sheet to have a specific geometric configuration as a whole. CONSTITUTION:Molds (A, A') having columns 6, 6' with flat top surfaces 7, 7' are positioned oppositely, a thermoplastic resin sheet (B) heated to the moldable temperature is placed therebetween, and the molds (A, A') are heated to said moldable temperature of the sheet (B), and are approached to each other so that the opposite surfaces of the sheet (B) are alternatively stretched to opposite directions to have the hollow projections alternatively arranged on the opposite surfaces thereby providing the intended molded body whose configuration satisfies the formulaeIwherein W2 represents the width of the bottom surface of the projected section and H represents the height of the projected section, II wherein W1 represents the width of the top surface of the projected section, III wherein t1 represents the thickness of the top surface section of the projected section and t2 represents the thickness of the sheet of the side wall, and IV W3 represents the distance between the adjacent projections on one surface of the sheet. |
