PURPOSE:To minimize the size of a power transmission mechanism which is connected to a spool valve in an engine which performs closing, exhaust and suction of a combustion chamber by means of the spool valve by providing a rotatable side cam which is linked to a crankshft and engaging said cam with one end of the spool valve. CONSTITUTION:In both injection and ignition processes, as shown in the drawing, suction and exhaust holes 23 and 24 are both closed tightly by a spool valve 11 while an actuation rod 15a of an injection pump 15 is pushed in by a crest 36a of a driving cam surface 36. Under the condition, once a side cam 12 is turned by a certain angle being linked to a crankshaft 3 via a timing belt 13, said actuation rod 15a is released from the crest 36a so that the air inside a combustion chamber 22 is compressed. When the side cam 12 makes additional turn, the spool valve 11 is pushed in the direction F by a crest 35a of a driving cam surface 35 to communicate a suction passage 25 to the suction hole 23 via a passage 18. Sliding of the valve 11 in the direction reverse to F closes the suction hole 23 and opens the exhaust hole 24 to perform exhaust. |
