<p>Tylosin derivs. of formula (I) are new. (where R is H or OH; R1 is halogen, OH, tetrahydrofuryloxy, tetrahydropyranyloxy, tetrahydrothienyloxy, tetrahydrothiopyranyloxy, alkanoyloxy, aroyloxy, aralkanoyloxy, lower alkylthiomethoxy, opt. substd. heterocyclylthio, mono- or dialkylaminoalkylthio or a sugar residue of formula (II), where R4 is H or alkanoyloxy, R2 is H, OH or alkanoyloxy. R3 is OH or alkanoyloxy; the single or double bond indicated must be double when R2 is H). 8 Cpds. (I), including 4'-deoxy- mycaminoxyl - tylonolide and its 23-0-acetyl deriv. are specifically claimed. (I) are antibacterial agents, e.g. with MIC values (mcg/ml) of 0.2 or less against S. aureus 209P and B. subtilis NRRL B-558, 3.12- 6.25 against E. coli NIHJ and 0.78-1.56 against K. pneumoniae PC1602 and Salm. enteriditis 1891.</p> |
