O-halo-phenyl-substd.-n-heterocyclic cpds. - useful as pesticides, esp. effective against acarids, insects and aphids

-N-heterocyclic cpds. of formula (I) and their quat. salts are new. (R1 is Ph substd. in at least the o-posn. by F, Cl, Br or I; R2 is a gp. R3, OR3, SR3 or NR3R4; R3 is H, 1-6C alkyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl, 2-6C alkynyl, pH, 7-10C phenylalkyl or naphthyl, each of which is opt. substd. by halogen, NO2, CN, SH, 1-6C alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio; R4 is a R3 gp.; and A and B together with the C atoms to which they are attached form a 3,6-disubstd.-pyridazine or -dihydropyridazine, 2,5-disubstd.-pyrimidine, 1,2,4-oxadiazole, 1,2,4-oxadiazoline or 1,2,4-triazole ring each opt. substd. With the exception of 3,5-bis-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole). Specifically claimed are 8 cpds. (I), including 3,5-bis-(2- chloro phenyl)-1-ethyl-1,2,4-triazole and the corresp. 1-allyl cpd.; 2,5-bis-(2-chloro phenyl)pyrimidine; and 3,5-bis-(2- chloro phenyl)-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazole. Cpds. (I) are pesticides, esp. effective against acarids, insects and aphids and their eggs and larvae; they are esp. effective against eggs and larvae of acarids esp. of the red spider mites and of other mite and tick species. Applied to plants at 0.25-16 oz./acre or in carrier at 1-2000 ppm. While the cpds. are usually applied to foliage, systemic activity is observed when they are applied to soil around the base of plants.
