The arrangement is for adhesively connecting the ends of two plastics pipes, e.g. of PVC or polyalkene, e.g. by inserting one pipe end into a socket at the end of the other pipe. The socket end is internally provided with an annular non-adhesive strip consisting of two components which, on insertion, are mixed to form an adhesive compatible with the material of the two pipes. One component may consist e.g. of a polyepoxy resin with incorporated accelerator, whilst the curing agent, e.g. an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic amine or polyamine, is contained therein in microencapsulated form, such that the agent is released under the pressure caused by insertion of the pipe end. |
