The cabinet, wardrobe or the like comprises bottom, top and side wall panels and one or two doors (14) each hingingly connected to the respective side wall (16) via hinge carriers (22,24) which are slidably movable in a direction parallel to that wall. This wall (16) is pref. arranged inwards relative to the lateral ends of top and bottom panel by an amount equal to at least the thickness of the door (to provide a recess therefore).
