PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic sensitive material ensuring high photosensitivity and contrast and causing little dye stain by incorporating a specified compound and a prescribed surface active compound into hydrophilic colloidal layers contg. a silver halide emulsion layer formed on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A compound represented by the formula and a fluorinated surface active compound are incorporated into hydrophilic colloidal layers including a silver halide emulsion layer formed on a support. In the formula, Z is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form an oxazole, benzoxazole or naphthoxazole ring, R<1> is alkyl, R<2> is alkoxycarbonylalkyl, hydroxyalkyl or other prescribed group, each of R<3> and R<4> is H, Cl, F, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulfonyl or sulfo and n=1,4. The compound represented by the formula is a merocyanine dye and the amount of the dye used is 10<-5>-2X10<-3>mol per 1mol silver halide. The amount of the surface active compound used is 10<-5>-10g, preferably 10<-4>-5X10<-1>g per 1g hydrophilic colloid. |
