PURPOSE:To improve the stating performance by cutting a cavity in the head of a piston to form a combustion chamber and forming an auxiliary combustion chamber in a cylinder head at a position where fuel injected into the combustion chamber may be just received. CONSTITUTION:A semi-spherical cavity 4 is formed in the head of a piston 1, forming a combustion chamber 5 between a cylinder head 3 and the piston head. An injection valve 6 is placed in the cylinder head 3 that fuel may be injected along the wall face of the cavity 4 and an auxiliary combustion chamber 7 which opens to the combustion chamber 5 is formed above the rim of the cavity 4, facing to the injection valve 6. The interior of the auxiliary combustion chamber 7 is formed like a bell or the similar so that inflow of fuel from the cavity 4 may be facilitated from an inflow hole 8 which is cut inclinatorily and tangently and that mixture ignited by a glow plug 10 be injected into the combustion chamber 5 from an ejection hole 9 which opens inclinatory toward the center of the combustion chamber 5. |
