PURPOSE:To measure undercuts by nondestructive inspection accurately and easily by pressing a modeling compd. on the surface of weld beads having undercuts and templating the undercuts. CONSTITUTION:A modeling compd. 4 is heated and pressed onto the surface of weld beads 2 having undercuts 3 of materials 1 to be welded. After cooling, the modeling compd. is removed from the beads 2 to transfer the undercuts 3 into projecting shaes 3'. The modeling compd. is cut in the undercut part to be measured, and the height of the transferred projecting part 3' corresponding to the depth of the undercut 3 is measured by using a magnifier wit a scale or the like. By the above-mentioned method, the undercuts 3 in the weld zones are measured accurately without cutting the cross section of the heads 2. |
