A machine element, in particular a vibration isolator, is manufactured by an annular elastic spring body 19 being formed between and vulcanized onto a downwards directed edge portion 11 of a bowl-shaped upper part 10 and an upwards directed inner sleeve portion 17 of a lower part 15. The annular surface portion 20 of the elastic spring body, which is directed towards the bottom portion 12 of the upper part, is shaped by the bottom portion 12 of the upper part being used as a shaping wall during the vulcanization and subsequently bent away from said surface portion 20, to be dealt its eventual profile and form a free space 23 between the bottom portion 12 and said annular surface portion 20.
