In the front edge (9) of both side walls (4) of the seat part (3) a slot (8) is formed. The rear end section (14) is of enlarged construction so that a shoulder (15) which points rearwards is formed, the said shoulder retaining a part, of a seatbelt, which is arranged in the slot (8). In this way, a lap belt (12) can be inserted into both slots (8) and thus a child can be held on the child's seat and the said seat can be secured against slipping off on the seat of a motor vehicle. A projection (17) protrudes from the front edge (9). The said projection (17) guides a shoulder belt (13) which only passes through one slot (8) in such a way that it rests satisfactorily against the body of the child. The child's seat can thus be used with conventional seatbelts. <IMAGE>
