The invention relates to a process and a device for the automated control of clothes from a laying-out table to a sewing machine for sewing on zip fasteners. The aim is to guide the garments and the zip fasteners to the sewing machine automatically in order to dispense with their manual introduction and guidance and so eliminate the stretching of the material. To achieve this, the edges 13 of the garment 11 along which the zip fastener is to be attached are placed next to each other essentially horizontally in an edge-to-edge arrangement. A gripping device 21 holds the garment along these edges a little further in the garment and essentially parallel to the edges, and it turns the garment in the vertically suspended position. The lateral parts of the garment 11 that are adjacent to the top and bottom gripping devices are separated from each other by a separating device 28 to assume a position essentially parallel to the grip rails 27 of the gripping device. The gripping device 21 and/or the separate pressing rails 37 press the edges 13 of the garment 11 against a transport device 23, which delivers the garment to a sewing machine 34. A zip fastener is introduced from above to a position in contact with the edges 13 of the garment. These edges, with the zip fastener over them, are taken to a position under the cloth presser 40 of the sewing machine for sewing the zip on. <IMAGE> |
