<p>PURPOSE:To extract a stable character feature even when a character line has contacted or has been cut, and to elevate a character recognition rate, by using an end point connecting line and a prescribed feature calculated by a feature calculating part, as a character feature. CONSTITUTION:From a character read pattern, a segment pattern 31 is extracted, and from its pattern 31, an upper end point T, a lower end point B and right and left end points R, L, respectively, by an end point extracting part 32. Subsequently, the extracted end points T, B, R and L are combined and deleted by an end point combining part 33 by a prescribed algorism. Subsequently, the combined and deleted end points are connected by an end point connecting part 34, an end point connecting line is made, and by its connecting line, a prescribed feature is calculated by a feature calculating part 35. Also, the co-ordinate of a centroid of the segment pattern is derived by a centroid calculating part 36, and it is provided to a feature register 37 together with the end point from the combining part 33 and a prescribed feature from the calculating part 35. In this way, even when the character line contacts or is cut, a stable character feature is extracted, and the character recognition rate is elevated.</p> |
