PURPOSE:To obtain a fixing means at a picture forming device easily converted to an arbitrary set temperaure, by keeping the position of a detecting element to a heating means possible for displacement. CONSTITUTION:At normal temperatures, excellent fixing performance is obtained at a set temperature T1 with a distance d1 between a fixing roll 11 and the detecting element 41. At low temperatures under the same conditions, deficient fixing may be caused at the T1 or below. In increasing the d1 to a d2, the temperature control is done at a set temperature T2 being higher than the T1. This is because the air layer is increased since the element 41 is detached from the roll 11 from the d1 to the d2, the heat insulating layer is increased, and then the fixing roll surface temperature is increased by the increment of the heat insulating layer by a difference DELTAd when a temperature controller 14 reaches a prescribed value. Then, at the set temperature T2, the excellent fixing performance is obtained even at low temperatures. |
