<p>The support allows a handicapped person seated in a wheelchair to use the counter in a public place such as a ticket office allows the person to be raised to the required height. This height is determined by the height of a normal standing person. The wheelchair is supported on a platform mounted on a scissor linkage extended by a piston and cylinder so that the wheelchair is lifted to a suitable level. The platform is housed inside a vertical protective structure (2) and carries stops (1), so that the wheelchair is kept stationary while raised.</p> |
