摘要 <p>The device has a transverse ultrasonic wave emitter-receiver follower (1) whose active element is piezoelectric quartz. The follower receives excitation signals from an ultrasonic source incorporated in an oscilloscope; and can be displaced internally along the weld omitting a beam of transverse waves towards it. If a fault is present a port of the beam is reflected in the direction of the follower which picks up an echo signal which is displayed on the oscilloscope screen and on a graphic recording device. The follower is mounted on a circular support plate (6) carried by a strap (7), which is integral with a feed mechanism able to displace it along a rectilinear trajectory perpendicular to the direction of emission of the follower. The feed mechanism is fixed immovenably to the wall by means of support feet (86). The follower is fixed on the base of a reinforcement formed on a plane face (10) of the support plate. The plate is maintained in sliding contact against the metallic wall by permanent magnets.</p>
