The handle for a saucepan or similar utensil comprises a metal bracket fixed to the main part of the pan, or to its lid. The bracket supports a head-insulated handle movably fixed to the metal bracket. The side of the handle facing the pan has a recess for a corresponding coupling part for the support. A connecting spring is positioned in the recess which engages or releases the coupling part of the support.
