In an apparatus for the transport of fibre materials, especially of textile fibres, and for their distribution in uniform layers in one or more storage chambers (5A, 5B), a device for feeding the material to a carriage structure (39) is provided; this carriage structure (39) follows the longitudinal front of the storage chamber (5A, 5B) during filling and projects beyond this, and it can be moved in an alternating movement along this front. The carriage structure (39) serves as a carrier for a band conveyor (29) which delivers the material in a continuous movement and which is itself displaceable in an alternating movement transversely relative to the direction of displacement of the carriage structure (39) and therefore transversely relative to the extension of the storage chambers (5A, 5B) over the width of the latter. <IMAGE>
