PURPOSE:To electrically change display color on the whole display screen of a display device using a fluorescent display tube by setting a liq. crystal filter composed of a liq. crystal layer and a color polarizing plate and by applying an electric signal to the liq. crystal layer. CONSTITUTION:A color polarizing plate 6 is used as one of polarizing plates PL6, PL7. Incident light is converted into white light through the other polarizing plate 7. When a prescribed voltage is not applied to a liq. crystal layer 8, the polarized light passes through the plate 6 as it is, and bluish green fluorescent color is displayed. When the polarizing axes of the plates 6, 7 meet at right angles, incident light is converted into white light through the plate 7, and the polarized light having the longitudinal component passes through the liq. crystal. By passing the polarized light through the red polarizing plate 6, the components except the red component are attenuated, so the incident light is colored red and it seems visually to be colored pink. |
