PURPOSE:To obtain a square hysteresis semi-hard magnetic material having excellent magnetic characteristics, glass sealability, heat resistance, plating characteristic, etc. by subjecting an Fe-Co-W alloy to a solution heat treatment under specific conditions and to water cooling then to a tempering treatment after cold working. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of 5-30wt% Co, 5-18% W and the balance substantially Fe is subjected to a solution heat treatment at 1,000-1,200 deg.C and is then water cooled. After the alloy is cold worked at >=80% draft, the alloy is tempered for 10sec-30min at 700-950 deg.C while tensile force lower than the yield point strength of said alloy is applied thereto. Further, the alloy is pressed and is formed into shapes of lead pieces or the like, and is then annealed for 30sec-2hr in a 500-900 deg.C range. By such method, the square hysteresis semi- hard magnetic material which has good magnetic characteristics, and good workability, heat resistance, glass sealability, etc. and is particularly suited for self- holding type lead relay pieces, etc. is obtained. |
