The invention relates to transformers in which the electrical cores are connected by two welded seams. Since the welded connections of the two welded seams take place only at the points of the outer limbs between the I-core laminate stack and the E-core laminate stack, the stack of the centre limb can vibrate from the E-core laminate stack. The consequences of this are humming noises which have a disturbing effect on the environment. The object of the invention is to prevent these humming noises. To this end, one or more welded seams are fitted on the outer surface of the I-core laminate stack. At the same time, the I-core laminate stack is deformed such that it presses onto the E-centre limb end, and humming is hence prevented. A further possibility for preventing humming of the E-centre limb stack is for the I-laminates to be cut in a convex manner on their cut longitudinal edge, with a suitably large radius. This raised area produces a defined pressure of the I-core laminate stack on the end of the E-centre limb, which prevents humming of the same.
