The invention relates to a seat, in particular a driver's seat for motor vehicles, in which the lateral swivelling of the backrest is performed by two links arranged parallel to one another; the ends of the links are connected to an upper rail or lower rail of the backrest in each case, the lower rail of the backrest, together with the upper rail with the backrest, being swivellably coupled to the seat cushion of the seat via a jointed fitting. By swivelling the backrest, it is made easier for a disabled vehicle driver on the seat cushion to pull in for example a collapsible wheelchair into the rear area of the vehicle.
