PURPOSE:To eliminate the defects of nonlinear elements consisting of metals- insulators-metals easily by providing the two nonlinear elements in the construction of metals-insulators-metals having the same characteristics in one picture element in a matrix shape on a transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:The 1st metals 9, 10 are formed on a transparent glass substrate 16. In the shapes of the metals 9, 10, all the MIN elements existing on the right side of the wirings 11 shown on the right side in the figure among the two metals-insulators-metals (MIN) elements provided in the respective picture elements of the respective rows are parallel, and similarly all the MIN elements existing on the left side on the wirings 12 on the left side are parallel; further, respectively independently terminals are provided to the wirings 11 on the right side and the wirings 12 on the left sides. Thereafter, the surfaces of the wiring parts 18 of the 1st metals 9, 10 are oxidized uniformly by methods of anodic oxidation, thermal oxidation, etc. so as to be made into insulators. In this stage, the surfaces of the 1st metals 14 of the MIN elements are oxidized as well. The 2nd metals are formed to provide MIN elements. Transparent electrodes 13 are formed so as to be conducted with the 2nd metals 15 of the MIN elements. |
