PURPOSE:To remove unnecessary C, H and P in steel easily in single stage by adding chlorine, chloride and, if necessary, oxygen to molten iron. CONSTITUTION:Powdery or granular chloride such as FeCl2 is charged into molten iron or gaseous Cl2 or powdery chloride is blown with a carrier gas into a molten iron bath by using an immersion pipe, a bottom blowing lance or the like, whereby the molten iron is decarburized and dehydrogenated. O2 and CO2 are used for the carrier gas, and if oxide such as FeO is added thereto, the dephosphorization reaction progresses similarly. By this method, the dephosphorization of the molten iron is accomplished effectively simultaneously with the decarburizing, dehydrogenating, deoxidizing, denitriding and desulfurizing thereof in a single process. |
