Footwear equipped with conventional insoles is not optimum for sensitive or unhealthy feet. In order to provide a remedy in this respect, it is proposed to manufacture footwear without an insole in such a manner that, firstly, an insole coated on its underside with a splittable material is used and the footwear is manufactured in the conventional manner, and the insole is removed after manufacturing with separation of the splittable material. If no insole is present, also absent are the stresses occurring in the insole, in particular in the transverse direction, which prevented the foot resting directly on the foot bed and its soft and adaptable material. This is made possible with the new footwear without insole. The absence of an insole is particularly advantageous, if cushioning or bedding chambers are provided in the intermediate sole to receive cushioning material in the region of particularly sensitive parts of the foot. <IMAGE>
