The systems make it possible to remove varnish, lacquer and paint imprints covering metal packages and in particular tinplate scrap. It consists of the combination of an ultrasonic apparatus, an organoinorganic solvent (based on methyl alcohol, sodium hydroxide, methylene chloride and ethyl alcohol) and well-determined operating conditions (for example a frequency of 26 kHz, temperature of 39 DEG C and treatment time of three to five minutes). It is easily adapted and integrated into a continuous industrial process line. Among the most advantageous applications of the invention we mention the cleaning of metal scrap in the tinplate degalvanising industry.
