PURPOSE:To raise the high-speed cutting efficiency of paper by a method in which both-side walls of an annular groove on a peripheral surface of a slitter cylinder are formed to have a diameter larger than the peripheral side of a slitter cylinder, a slitter coupling with the both-side walls is rotationally driven, and a paper is held on both sides of the slitter by means of rollers in such a way as to tense the paper. CONSTITUTION:In the cutting operation of a paper 5 by the slitter 59 of a rotary press for both sides of paper, the paper 5 is pressed and contacted with the body 22a of a slitter cylinder 22 by means of rollers 87 on both sides of the slitter 59. Whereupon, the paper 5, since both-side walls 41 of an annular groove 40 are slightly higher than the peripheral side of the cylinder body 22a, is cut off in a tensed state without curving with good cutting efficiency because the slitter 59 is rotationally driven from the prime mover side. Thus, the paper 5 is cut off straightly but not in zigzagged manner. Furthermore, the cutting efficiency of the paper can be made better by increasing the circumferential speed of the slitter 59 beyond that of the annular groove 40. Also, the slitter 59 may be replaced with the slitter for sewing pitch. |
