PURPOSE:To shorten the stoppage time of a ship greatly by providing an emergency switching mechanism to switch over from a load setting circuit for normal navigation to the one for emergency by means of an emergency signal for increasing the braking force of the ship. CONSTITUTION:For stopping a ship in an emergency by reversing the thrust of a propeller 1 rapidly, an emergency signal is outputted from an emergency signal generator 17, and a coil part of a switch 18 is operated to switch over a load signal from a normal navigation via a primary load setting circuit 19 at a load setter 10 to an emergency load signal L2 side via the second load setting circuit 20 through a multiplier. This setting load signal equal to the maximum output is compared with the signal from a load detector 9 by a comparator 11, and controlled in a way whereby a blade angle of a variable pitch propeller generates a sufficient reversing thrust. This simple construction permits to increase the braking force to shorten the stoppage time of the ship, and improve the maneuvarability of the ship. |
