PURPOSE:To obtain a low specific gravity rubber foaming body at low cost which is suitable for a heat insulating material, etc. and is light and has a rubber elasticity, by kneading a rubber component and polystyrene at a specified weight ratio, blending the foaming agent of a thermal decomposition type and a vulcanizer to perform foaming. CONSTITUTION:The mixture of a rubber component and a resin is prepared by kneading (A) 100pts.wt. of natural rubber or synthetic rubber and (B) 5-100pts. wt. of polystyrene or a polystyrene type resin, further blending preferably (C) a resin of chlorinated polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride etc. Then, a usual thermal decomposition type foaming agent and a vulcanizer etc. are blended into the obtained mixture and desired low specific gravity rubber foam is made by foaming it to a desired expansion ratio. An obtained foam holds physical properties as a rubber foam and when it is applied to the use of a heat insulating material, it is excellent in effects of keeping warmth and cold and has the low specific gravity of about of 0.06-0.07. |
