PURPOSE:To make the production of a good thin amorphous alloy strip possible without damaging a crucible and a cooling body by providing a brush for stripping the thin alloy strip from the rotary cooling body in an optional position except the position where a molten alloy is sprayed in contact or proximity with or to the cooling body. CONSTITUTION:A base alloy is charged into a refractory vessel 1 (crucible) having a nozzle at the preceding end, and is heated to melt by a high frequency coil 2. The molten alloy 3 in the crucible is pressurized with an inert gas such as gaseous Ar from above the crucible and is ejected onto the surface of a cooling body (roll) under high speed rotation through the nozzle, whereby an amorphous alloy tape 5 is formed. In this stage, the tape 5 cooled by the roll 4 is stripped smoothly from the roll 4 by contacting, for example, a nylon brush 6 and is dislodged approximately in parallel with a floor surface, whereby the tape is brought on the floor surface. Defects such as strains are not admitted in the tape 5, and the good amorphous alloy tape 5 is obtained. |
