Hydroelectric storage installation with wind powered pumping - uses solar or wind power to drive the pumps in a pumped storage electricity generating installation, reducing overall energy cost

The main water storage is behind a dam wall. The water is released through a turbine into a collecting pond below the wall. A pump driven by a solar energy converter or a wind turbine mounted on top of the dam wall pumps water up from the collecting pond back to the main storage, reducing the cost of energy consumption required to service the pumped storage installation. Solar energy collectors may be used alternatively in place of the wind powered generator. The arrangement is partic. suited to the climate and geography of Marocco.
