PURPOSE:To obtain a gas sensor which does not malfunction with alcohol by providing porous layers of silica gel, zeolite and calcium chloride in a gas sensitive body. CONSTITUTION:A domed explosion-proof wire screen 2 is provided on an insulating base plate 1, and a gas sensitive body 3 such as tin oxide is installed therein. Porous layers 5 on and from which alcohol is adsorbable and desorbable such as silca gel, zeolite, calcium chloride or the like are formed around the body 3. The body 3 and the layers 5 are heated to about >=200 deg.C with a heater 4. If the gas sensor of such construction is formed, a temp. difference is produced between the inner side and the outer side with the layers 5 as a boundary, and in accordance with the difference in the equil. concn. of alcohol, the concn. of the alcohol on the inner side is maintained lower than the concn. on the outer side, and the influence of alcohol upon the body 3 is decreased. |
