The invention concerns an arrangement for removal of a work piece from a chill mould in a continuous metal casting layout. The removal arrangement contains a movable housing 1 and refrigerated shoes 2, which are arranged about the periphery of the work piece 3 being produced by continuous casting. Each shoe 2 is provided with two pairs of wedge elements 6, 7, which are arranged between the shoe 2 and the housing 1. The one wedge element 6 in each pair is rigidly fastened to the shoe 2. The other wedge elements 7 in these pairs are joined together by an element 8 with adjustable length, while one of these wedge elements is also joined to a cross beam 9 by an element with constant length. The arrangement further contains a drive layout 14 for pressing the shoes 2 against the work piece 3 being produced, and a drive layout for removing the work piece 3 from the chill mould, wherein the cross beam 9 is connected to the piston rods 12, 13 of the hydraulic cylinders of the particular drive layouts.
