PURPOSE:To enable to favorably impregnate sponge balls with water, by bringing sponge balls from the interior of a hollow support shaft for a compressing plate into a gap between a pair of compressing plates consisting of fixed and rotary bodies in a water impregnator, in a tube washer for a multitubular-type heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:In a water impregnator with sponge balls, the gap for compressing the sponge balls is provided between a fixed-side compressing plate 3 and a rotary-side compressing plate 4, and a biting-in port 5 of the gap is formed in a shape optimum for biting in the balls. When the sponge balls 2 are thrown in through an intake port 1 of the hollow shaft supporting the fixed-side compressing plate 3, the balls are easily biten into the biting-in port 5 by a centrifugal action, and is passed through the gap while taking a hyperbolic path and remaining in the compressed condition under the action of the rotary-side compressing plate 4. In this case, the sponge balls 2 are subjected to both torsion and twisting due to differences in circumferential velocity, and both release of air and impregnation with water are sufficiently performed. Accordingly, the sponge balls are introduced into heat-transmitting tubes uniformly and securely, without floating up to the surface of water. |
