PURPOSE:To reduce the noise as well as the discharging amount of NOx of the engine by a method wherein the fuel injection rate of the engine is kept in low upon the low-speed and low-load operation. CONSTITUTION:The inlet port 7 of a high-pressure intercepting device 5 is communicated with a branched pipe 4 provided on the way of the fuel path 2 of a fuel injection pump through a bypass pipe 6. The piston 9 of the high-pressure intercepting device 5 is pushed against a stopper 14 at first by a spring 10 and the pressure of fuel in the fuel path 2 is increased by the movement of a plunger 1, however, in this case, a part of the fuel is flowed into the high-pressure intercepting device 5 through a bypass pipe 6 and flows to a low pressure side through the gap 13 of the moving part 9. As a result, the increase of the fuel pressure is slowed down and the injection rate may be restrained. Further, when the pressure of the fuel is increased, the moving part 9 is moved rightwardly against the resilient force of the spring 10 to intercept the fuel in a pressure chamber 11 with a low-pressure side and all of the fuel pushed out by the plunger 1 is sent to the injection valve 15 thereby increasing the injection rate. |
