PURPOSE:To obtain a stable pulse laser output, by providing an auxiliary electrode between the anode and cathode of a laser tube, and connecting resistors between the auxiliary electrode and a high voltage power source. CONSTITUTION:When the high voltage power source 6 is turned ON, the high voltage is aplied between the anode 4 of the laser tube 1 and the ground, and the discharge is started between the anode 4 and the auxiliary electrode 16. The continuous discharge current flows through resistors 17 and 18, and a mixed gas between the anode 4 and the auxiliary electrode 16 is always ionized. The high voltage, which is applied across the anode 4 and ground, is divided by resistors 22 and 19. The voltage about half the applied voltage is supplied to the cathode 5. Then, a pulse generator 14 is turned ON. By the pulse voltage of the pulse generator 14, a comparator amplifier 12 is turned ON and OFF, a current control transistor 10 is turned ON and OFF, and a ballast tube 8 is turned ON and OFF. Then the voltage of the cathode 5 of the laser tube 1 is turned ON and OFF. The discharge between the anode 4 and the cathode 5 of the laser tube 1 is turned ON and OFF, and laser oscillation is intermittently generated by mirrors 3 and 3', and pulse laser output 2 is outputted. |
