PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display panel having excellent multiplex characteristics easily by setting the polarization direction of polarizing plates in contact with substrates at specific angles with respect to the diretor direction of liquid crystal molecules. CONSTITUTION:In a twisted nematic type liquic crystal display panel constituted of a pair of substrates, nematic liquid crystals sealed between the substrates in roughly a twist oriented state, and a pair of polarizing plates sandwiching the same, experiment is carried out in order to clarify the relation between the ratio B of Vth and Vsa with regard to theta where the angle that the rubbing direction of the substrates and the polarizing diretion of the polarizing plates assume is defined as theta, and the expermient revealed that the B decreases with an increase in the value of the theta. In accordance with such empirical fact, the liquid crystal display panel having excellent multiplex characteristics is produced by the simple operation of deviating the angle between the polarizing direction of the polarizing plates and the rubbing direction. The suitable angle to be deviated is in a 5-20 deg. range. |
