PURPOSE:To obtain a card reader which is highly resistive to soil and magnetism, by forming a groove from the upper surface through the inside of a casing and fixing a light emitting/detecting device at a position touching the above-mentioned groove. CONSTITUTION:A card 3 is inserted into a groove cut from the upper surface through the inside of a casing 1. A light emitting/detecting device 2 is attached at a position touching the inner groove of the casing 1 and corresponding to a bar code 4 of the card 3. The depth of the groove of the casing 1 must be decided so that at least the rear edge part of a bar code 4 can pass the device 2. Then the code 4 is read at a time point when the card 3 is inserted or pushed back by a spring 5. |
