The invention relates to a process for applying a dye coating to articles, in particular to spectacle frames, onto which a coating of resin-containing polymer powder has been applied. The article is fired, the polymer powder melting to form a coating. The article is subsequently immersed in a hot dye solution and, after removal from the dye bath, is heated up, the dye diffusing deeply into the polymer coating. The dye coating is therefore particularly abrasion-resistant and substantially resistant to solvents.
