A trailer vehicle has a fork-shaped vehicle frame (1) with a tiebar (11) to which a traction device (2) is attached, and two side members (12) to which a chassis (3) is connected in a raisable and lowerable manner in each case by means of a raising mechanism (7). The bearings (4) of the two chassis are connected in a mechanically synchronous manner by means of rods (51), crank levers (52) and a coupling shaft (53). Objects for transporation with a large area, such as a container (8), which are supported with a narrower foot part (81) on the ground can be set down on the top of the side members (12) by moving the fork-shaped vehicle frame (1) in around the foot part and then engaging, with the vehicle frame, under two lateral shoulders of the object for transportation, by actuating the raising mechanisms (7). <IMAGE>
