PURPOSE:To convert the frequency spectrum of an electric signal into a spectrum with time by converting the electric signal frequency spectrum into the wavelength spectrum of light and performing transmission through an optical transmission line having large wavelength dispersion. CONSTITUTION:When an electric component which contains plural frequency components is applied to an electro-photo conversion element 11 applied with white color pulses 14, the frequency spectrum of an electric signal is converted into transmittivity of corresponding wavelength and light converted into a wavelength spectrum corresponding to input frequency components is outputted from the element 11. This electric signal having the frequency component in the form of a spectrum with time is transmitted through the single-mode optical transmission line 12 having large wavelength dispersion and converted into an electric signal through a photoelectric conversion element 13; and the frequency spectrum of the electric signal is converted into a spectrum with time, which is observed through an oscilloscope, etc. |
