The armrest of a seat is formed by a plate whose ends are incorporated in axles, said axles being provided in each case on a seat part and a backrest of the seat. The plate is correspondingly variably deformed with adjustment of the inclination of the backrest. The exertion of pressure on the armrest allows the plate forming the armrest to be bent in the opposite sense.
