PURPOSE:To obtain an increased dynamic range and improve detection precision by reducing variances among numbers of detectors through an automatic balancing circuit and removing an offset voltage from an input to each operating device. CONSTITUTION:A shape detector 5 which detects the oscillation of a material 4 to be rolled in the form of gap variation is incorported as one side of a bridge circuit 12. Its inductance variation is detected by the bridge circuit 12 and a fine variation voltage signal is passed through an amplifying circuit 13 and processed by a synchronous detector 14 to obtain a DC signal. This DC signal is inputted to a signal output circuit 16 and also fed back to the automatic balancing circuit 15. The output of the shape detector 5 varies greatly with materials, the inclination of the detector, tensile force for rolling, etc., but variations are nearly eliminated because of the use of the automatic balancing circuit 15 to eliminate an offset voltage, thereby obtaining the increased dynamic range and improved detection precision. |
